Worms v1.0
--------------
While I was working in a computer-store I noticed that people who know
nothing about Amiga's are very capable at distroying complex animations,
pretty icon-positions, preferences, harddisk contents, ect., so I thought
I'd make a screenblanker/inputblocker: "Worms".
Most blankers open a Lores screen in front of all others, and close the
screen when mouse or keyboard are touched. If you work with a DBL screen,
or something else with a different refresh-rate, this will change that
rate and the monitor will go "Phhiiooow" twice. I don't like that.
Also, I don't like it when a blanker automaticly blanks after a certain
amount of time, probably when I'm enjoying a great picture or so, so I
thought I'd leave that out.
WORMS:
- Opens a screen in (almost) the same mode as the frontmost screen, but
with only two planes. It doesn't have to be HIRES, Worms can be forced
to open a LORES screen with the same monitor-specs. Use the "MODE=LOW"
tooltype.
- Will block all input completely (while blanking), except for the RESET-
combination. If you place Worms in the WBStartup directory, set the
"AUTOSTART" tooltype and the priority of your boot-partition to "6", no
person can change anything anymore: Worms will blank and block directly
after startup and until someone presses the unblank key-combination.
- Will blank only on command Ctrl+LShift. The unblank combination can
be changed. By default the Ctrl-LAlt will do, but a third key (any key)
can be added with the "KEY=rawnr" tooltype. The default is "-1" (off).
- Runs with a lower priority (-1) than other programs so blanking while the
Amiga is busy rendering or printing won't give a problem.
- Can only be started from Workbench (2.0+).
TOOLTYPES:
--- KEY=rawnr
The unblank key-combination is Ctrl+LAlt. A third key can be added to make
sure no one else can unblank (and mess up) the Amiga. To do this you must
know the RAWKEY codes of the keyboard. Here are some (QWERTY): Esc=69,
F1-F10=80-89, 1-0=1-10, -=11, ==12, \=13, <-=65, Del=70, Help=95, ~=0,
tab=66, Q=16, W=17, A=32, S=33, ect. Valid are numbers between -1 and 127.
--- MODE=LOW
This forces Worms to open a lores screen with the same monitor-specs. At
this moment there are no other modes to select; LOW is all. The default
is the same (high) resolution as the frontmost screen.
--- AUTOSTART
This will make Worms blank&block directly after the program starts. Make
sure you know the key-combination to unblank, or you'll have to boot with
a floppydisk!
--- NOMESSAGE
Every time you start Worms it opens a small window to show the key-com-
binations and the copyright. If you've seen enough of it you can suppress
the window with NOMESSAGE. If you make a copy for someone else ALWAYS
remove this tooltype... they will find these words themselves, once, and
need to learn the key-combinations.
--- WORMS=nn
The number of creatures that may molest your monitor... the faster your
computer, the more you choose. WORMS=0 is permitted: a boaring and
continious black screen with almost no processor-time used will be the
result. The maximum number of worms is 100, the default is 30, that
looks nice on my 68030 (40 Mhz). Only a A4000/40 should set this to
the maximum of 100 ? Well, you can try!
--- CYCLES=n
The worms eat black. Behind it there seems to be a weird pattern but
they hardly ever finish their meal... You can tell Worms exactly how
many times the worms can eat as many pixels as the screen counts before
they get a fresh screen. This depends on your taste and curiosity.
The default is 4.
Important: If you change the tooltypes, QUIT (Ctrl+RAlt) Worms and start
it again to see the result!!!
And: You can only Quit Worms while it's NOT blanking!
-------------------- I hope you like the worms as much as I do, have fun!

Don't take public-domain software for granted... if it's worth something,
pay something! Commercial software would have been far more expensive!
